West Parley Townswomen's Guild
West Parley Townswomen's Guild is part of the National Organisation of Townswomen's Guilds which was formed in 1929 when women were looking for interests additional to their homes. It is an organisation for women of all ages and nationalities wishing to meet together on a regular basis for educational, recreational and social activities aimed at educating women in the principles of good citizenship. Townswomen's Guilds are non party political and non sectarian.

preparing for the Christmas bazaar
The Guild at West Parley was formed in 2000 and at present has 38 members of all ages, interests and abilities. Our meetings are always lively with interesting speakers or demonstrators.
The main monthly meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month from 10.00 till noon at West Parley Memorial Hall. The business part of the meeting is followed by coffee and then the main item. We also hold regular monthly group meetings for Craft, Social Studies, Gardening, Drama and Luncheon Club as well as outings and social events.
At 10.00a.m. on November 20th 2009, for the first time, we are holding a Christmas Bazaar in the Studio at the Barrington Centre which members have all contributed to.
We are members of the Dorset Federation of Townswomen's Guilds and as such take part in their many events.
Our ladies are all pleasant and friendly and welcome visitors and new members. So, why not give us a try and be sure of a warm welcome and pleasant morning.

West Parley Women's Institute
West Parley Women`s Institute meets on the second Thursday of each month at West Parley Memorial Hall, 2-4pm and this year we celebrated our 83rd birthday. Most months we have a speaker. Their subjects are very diverse, sometimes entertaining, always informative and usually amusing. We try to make the monthly competition appropriate to the subject. For example, the July talk about the Associated Countrywomen of the World, with whom we are associated, was a piece of foreign craftwork.
3 or4 individual Institutes usually form a Group (We belong to Heathlands Group) and with the Autumn and Spring Meetings with these other Institutes we enlarge our circle of friends and exchange ideas..We are all under the auspices of Dorset H.Q, and again there are Spring and Autumn Council Meetings. Any member can put forward a Resolution via County to the National Federation. www.thewi.org.uk After country-wide discussion, this may even be used to lobby Parliament.
Not just "Jam and Jerusalem", locally we have many interests, e. g. various craft groups etc. County H.Q. also organise other days of special interest. Then of course we have many social events too. Outings , coffee mornings and a very special Group pre-Christmas Fair.
Visitors are welcome to our meetings so come and meet us on the second Thursday of the month.

Churches
Church of England
All Saints ChurchSt Marks Church
Church Lane250 New Rd
West Parley is one parish with two places of worship; All Saints, the 12th C parish church, and St. Mark's, a 20th C building recently refurbished to a high standard. We are very fond of both of our churches and consider it a real blessing to have the contrast of ancient and modern. But whether at All Saints or St. Mark's our purpose is to worship God who is made known in Jesus Christ. We do so conscious of our limitations and failings and yet rejoicing in the grace that is both forgiving and renewing.
A parish of the Church of England we are proud of our Anglican inheritance in both word and music. It is a rich and evolving tradition, and one which we celebrate in our worship. But we do not want to keep it all to ourselves. We would be delighted to share it with you. If you come along be assured of a warm welcome.
