Constitution

Issue 1 - dated 17th of August 2006

  1. Title

    The name of the Association shall be the West Parley Residents Association or WPRA.

  2. Objects

    The objects of the Association are:

    • To protect West Parleys green belt, paying close attention to the South West Regional Authoritys Regional Spatial Strategy.
    • To provide a consistent voice on behalf of the residents of West Parley on issues affecting our neighbourhood.
    • To keep residents informed on key issues and possible changes to the area.
    • To work closely with the West Parley Parish Council and the East Dorset District Council.
  3. Membership

    Membership is open to all residents of West Parley.

  4. Subscription

    There is no formal subscription but the Committee may ask from time to time for running expenses for the association.

  5. Committee

    The Committee will be composed of a Chairman, a Secretary/Spokesman, a Treasurer, and at least 2 residents. Any Committee member will give at least one months notice before resigning, and their replacement shall be nominated and agreed by residents at the next Association meeting. Any member of the Committee may be asked to leave the Committee if more than 60% of residents agree to it at an Association meeting.

  6. Communications

    The Committee shall maintain a website, phone and an email address.

  7. Management

    The general management of the affairs of the Association shall be vested in the Committee, who will do what may be deemed necessary or expedient to further the objects of the Association.

  8. Association Meetings

    All meetings will be convened at the location, date and time agreed at each previous meeting. Meetings will be advertised on the Association website and the Parish notice board. Minutes will be taken by the Secretary and kept as Association records.

  9. Dissolution

    The Association may be dissolved only by the votes of more than 60% of the residents at an Association meeting.

  10. Acceptance of Rules

    Membership of the Association shall imply the acceptance of each of these rules, and additions or alterations which may be agreed at WPRA meetings.

  11. Interpretation

    The Committee for the time being shall have full power to decide any question for which no provision is made for in these rules and shall be responsible for proposing the appropriate amendment at the earliest possible time.

  12. Amendment of Rules

    These rules shall only be amended, added to or otherwise altered with the consent of at least 60% of the members present at an Association meeting.

  13. The Association shall be non party political and non sectarian.
